"Every time our nation faces crisis, our national experience has shown Americans rise to the challenge. While government has an important role to play in helping rekindle our economy and addressing the problems of a distressed nation, President-elect Obama believes each of us, as Americans, have a responsibility to do what we can for our communities and fellow citizens. We are one nation.

The United States is once again at a crossroads and that is why the President-elect hopes to use the occasion of his Inauguration to rally our nation to commit to service in our communities. We are asking for your organization's participation in meeting this challenge.

In 1994, Congress transformed the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday into a national day of community service to further commemorate a man who lived his life in service to others. As a tribute to that legacy and the very real needs of our nation, the President-elect and Vice President-elect will launch a national organizing effort on the eve of their Inauguration to engage Americans in service. This national day of service will fall on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 19, 2009 and, unlike past calls to service, President-elect Obama will ask Americans to do more than just offer a single day of service to their cities, towns and neighborhoods. He will ask all of us to make an ongoing commitment to our communities. Never has it been more important to come together in shared purpose to tackle the common challenges we face.

The call will go to all Americans to organize service projects and join others at events in their communities. As the Co-chairs of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, we invite you and your organization to join other Americans to organize service projects in your communities. The Presidential Inaugural Committee will offer Americans a new website to help promote your events and for Americans to make their commitments, build communities, find opportunities to serve and share their results. These can be events that orient people to your organization's work, engage people in direct service, or bring people together to reflect on Dr. King's legacy and how they can commit to becoming more engaged citizens. Please see the attached information on how to get involved.

We have a great opportunity to set the tone for the next four years and I know you will rise to the challenge. Thank you for all your support."  PEOTUS Obama

NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - India warned its citizens on Friday it was unsafe to travel to Pakistan and the prime minister met his military chiefs, while Pakistan canceled army leave and moved some troops from its western border.

The travel warning marked a dramatic rise in tension between the nuclear-armed neighbors after last month's attack on Mumbai that killed 179 people and which India has blamed on Islamist militants based in Pakistan.

It followed media reports in Pakistan and India that "several" Indian nationals had been held in the last two days after bombings in the Pakistani cities of Lahore and Multan.

"Indian citizens are therefore advised that it would be unsafe for them to travel (to) or be in Pakistan," India's Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement.

Another Foreign Ministry official contacted by Reuters said the warning referred to all travel to Pakistan...   Read More »
Currently firms are using government funds to continue with their malfeasance. Taxpayers are being ripped off. The law exists to recover these funds from stockholders or anyone. Instead of subsidizing stockholders we should recover stolen funds. The objective of management is to increase shareholder wealth. They have done so to the extent that the firms are insolvent. Now they have stolen funds that were to secure these firms solvency. Piercing the veil is in order to recover stolen funds. We never should have subsidized shareholders to begin with. These firms are attempting to restrain trade, increase price, and export to our detriment while pleading for subsidy. Piercing the veil is necessary in order to weed out thieves who are looting corporations via kickback schemes, distributions that cause insolvency, and out and out bribery of public officials. These are the reasons for the law. The law needs to be to be upheld in these cases.
We may never recover from this hole they dug.
But we will climb to the top with a American tug.
The republican party have destroyed all that matters
They deserve nothing more but to hold the damn ladder.

But his voice did change, along with a smile.
Thinking of the bills that soon would be filed.
Protect those who are old and young alike
Restore our honor and our military might.

Protect our planet, and clean our air.
While creating a surplus we can leave to our heirs
Fix our economy, and health care for all.
And honor those who fought, and those who fall.

Obama sprang to his feet, to his team he gave a shout.
The challenges seem impossible, hard work needed no doubt
But I heard him exclaim ere he talked and ran.
Hey! It's not just a slogan, YES WE CAN!
"Barack Be Good"

"Times have changed. In 1996, President Bill Clinton, under siege from the right, declared that the era of big government is over. But President-elect Barack Obama, riding a wave of revulsion over what conservatism has wrought, has said that he wants to make government cool again."

Myself, I'm not commenting on where Barack vacations. Someone I know is, by chance,
staying on the same beach. Would enjoy googling vicariously. Also, if Caroline Kennedy thinks she can fill Hillary's shoes, I say why not let her try.   Read More »
Twas the Night Before Inauguration
By John Cobarruvias
BayAreaHouston.blogspot.com

T'was the night before inauguration and what to my dismay
The market was tanking, I lost my 401K!
The stocks were hung, in downfall they stuck
While Bush did nothing, a truly lame duck

The republicans were nestled, their heads in the sand
With visions of defeat of the republican brand.
And Cheney with his gun, his heart a pace
Looking for someone, to shoot in the face.

When out on the house floor, there came such a clatter
I sprang to the internets to find what's the matter.
Away to my screen I ran with a flash
Hoping the market, didn't crash.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Showed me someone I needed to know.
When what to my eyes, I paused, with a comma
But a vision of hope, It was Barack Obama!

With excitement and conviction in each of his steps
I wondered what he and his el ves, w ould do next.
More rapid than eagles his appointments they came
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name.

Now Emanuel! Now, Dashle! Now Richardson and Biden!
On, Clinton , On Napolitano, and Gates, no sense in hiding!
To fix the economy, our reputation and more.
And to stop the killing of this unnecessary war.

As Obama stood still, the republicans they trembled
Remembering 8 years of a disaster they had assembled.
They've broken our banks, and doubled our debt.
They scared us to death with weapons of threats.

They squandered a surplus, They started a war.
They shredded our constitution, littered on the floor.
They attack our unions, our immigrants and those who are gay.
They claim to be Christians, yet on the sick they prey.
"Buyer beware" is a good phrase to keep in mind when you're searching for a new car. Everyone has heard the stories about car salesmen who'll do and say anything to move their four-wheeled merchandise. But there's someone else who can also have a profound impact on your purchase-the auto finance manager. Here are a few questions to ask when the two of you talk dollars and cents:

1. What's the interest rate on the loan?

The most important factor in any financing deal is the interest rate. Ask the dealer for the APR (annual percentage rate), which is the best apples-to-apples measurement for comparing loans. Be sure to ask him how they compute their APR, because many lending institutions use different methodologies. You'll get a sense of exactly what a lender is including in the interest costs.

2. Can you detail all the penalties and fees?

A favorite tactic of any auto lender, mortgage or personal loan-is to bury an assortment of fees and penalties in the fine print of your car loan. Make certain you're clear on all the fees that are included.

The dealer may also include penalties for paying off the loan early. Try to avoid them if at all possible; they can be problematic if you decide to refinance the loan down the road.
3. Can you get final approval on the financing package before you leave the lot?

Finance managers love to tell you that the deal is approved, but then call you the next morning to say the financing has fallen through. Naturally, they'll have another lender lined up for you, although the interest rate will be higher and there'll be more fees attached.

Don't fall for this one. Make sure that the deal is set in stone before you leave the lot. If it's not, tell the finance manager you won't come back.
4. What are the specifics behind the credit insurance?

Including some sort of credit disability or credit life insurance policy with the loan is another revenue-generator for bad credit auto dealers. If you feel that you need one of these policies, ask for all the details concerning the coverage. Compare the policy with others on the market, and also check with your financial advisor to see if it's the right deal for you.

"Buyer beware" is good advice when dealing with a finance manager; but the above questions will do more than help you get your guard up. Armed with them, you'll be "buyer prepared." You'll send a clear message to the finance manager that you're nobody's financial fool.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas yesterday, and will have a wonderful New Year!
Pay in cash
If you have a great deal of money saved, you might want to go ahead and pay for your car in cash. By paying in cash, you avoid the added cost of auto financing charges associated with getting a loan, which can save you thousands of dollars over the life of your car. If you do pay cash from money you have saved, be sure you don't completely wipe out your savings. Keep enough in savings in case of an emergency, and be diligent about replenishing the money. That way your next car can be paid for in full too!

Home equity loan
One way to lower your interest costs when buying a new car is to use a home equity loan or line of credit. A home equity loan may have a lower interest rate than a car loan, since it is secured by the equity in your home. In addition, the interest you pay on a home equity loan is generally tax deductible, which means you save even more (check with a financial advisor about your particular situation). And with a home equity, you don't have to worry about having a down payment saved.

Remember though, that you're home is at risk if you can't make your payments. With a car loan, all you lose by not paying is your car. With a home equity loan, if you default, you can be forced to sell your home. So make sure you can easily afford your monthly payments.

Car loan
If you don't own a home, or if you don't have enough equity in your home to borrow against, you'll need a car loan. Financing through a dealer is convenient, but it can also be more expensive, because it's another way for a dealer to make money from selling you your car. Also make sure the dealer's loan terms aren't set up to match your monthly payment. If the dealer knows what you can afford each month, he can structure a loan that meets that payment but still ends up costing you more than independent automobile financing.

Before you go with your bad credit car dealers financing, shop around to make sure you're getting the best rate. Lending Tree has a network of auto lenders that compete for your business. You fill out one form and get back up to four offers in minutes, making it easy for you to compare terms among lenders.
Before you start shopping for an auto loan, you also need to be prepared. An auto loan is a huge financial transaction, and if you make a mistake, it could stick with you for many years. Use the following four tips to ensure you survive in the world of auto financing.

1. Analyze your budget
Auto Lenders will be happy to lend you more money than you really need. To make sure that you borrow the right amount, create a budget. Write down all your sources of income and your expenses, making sure to include any upcoming purchases or lifestyle changes that could impact your finances. By creating a thorough budget, you'll have a good sense of how much you can afford to spend on a car.

2. Research the cost

Once you've got a good idea of how much you can spend on a car, analyze how much the vehicle will cost. Be careful: The expenses include more than just the purchase price. You'll also need to consider insurance, fuel, maintenance, and interest charges. Make sure that the overall cost isn't more than 15 to 20 percent of your total budget.

3. Check your credit score

Make sure that your credit report doesn't have any mistakes before you shop for a loan. Any erroneous reports of late payments and open accounts can lower your credit score and impair your ability to get a good loan. To obtain a credit report, contact any of the three credit reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian). Examine the report carefully, and immediately notify the agencies of any discrepancies.

4. Compare new vs. used

Choosing between buying a new or used car will affect the size of your loan. A new car will be much more expensive than a used one-and unfortunately, it will also depreciate much more quickly in value. However, you may decide that the additional cost is justified if you place more value on the latest safety and convenience features of a new car.

There are many other pros and cons to both sides of the new vs. used argument. Be sure to choose the option that best aligns with your budget and your tastes.

Before you get ready to start hunting for an automobile finance, heed this advice: Failing to prepare means that you're preparing to fail. Use the information listed above as you carefully analyze your own financial situation. In the end, you'll emerge prepped and ready to find the right auto loan

Here’s one of the reasons our economy is in such a mess.  Congress has given out about $350 billion to banks with no restrictions on how it is spent and no accounting of where the money has gone.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081222/ap_on_bi_ge/meltdown_secrets

These are the same senators who pissed and moaned about how some auto workers are making too much money and need to take pay cuts.  $350 billion with no strings to the bankers but the poor guy who works hard and is trying to raise his family on about $60,000, needs to have his pay cut.  We wouldn’t want him taking the family out for dinner or to see a movie.

Give credit to Bush and the Republicans, they knew they wouldn’t be in office but they’ve managed to pay their buddies anyways.

When George Herbert Walker Bush famously announced the New World Order, I naively thought he meant that from then on, January 1991, the nations of the globe would purchase and pay for what they wanted from others, rather than attempt to take them by force. The Saddam Husseins of the world were to be taught that lesson and no more would the invasion of another country be countenanced.

Much later, when Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense for Bush the Younger, addressed Congress, it became clear that what was meant was that from now on instead of Old Europe, the New World, and, specifically, the behemoth sitting astride the North American continent, would be giving the orders and the nations of the world would have to do what they were told.   Read More »

John Lennon - Happy Christmas (War Is Over) Lyrics

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over over
If you want it
War is over
Now...

I can not wait to start to petition our great new government in Washington DC. I hope that we can truly make our country a better country, for every one.

Love Rick Radman of the Web Site Radman_Art

Merry Christmas to all...

and to all a good night!
